Lead Server
The Role
The Lloyd is a destination evening restaurant opening in Shifnal this summer. The cooking is exceptional. The wine programme is exceptional — built to the same standard as the food, and every bit as central to what The Lloyd is. We need a Lead Server who is worthy of both.
This is the most senior floor position below the Restaurant Manager. You will be the guest’s primary point of contact across the full arc of the evening — and you will set the tone for the service team around you.
What the Role Involves
You will work every service on the floor, owning a section of the dining room with full responsibility for the guest experience from arrival to farewell. You will also play a central role in developing your knowledge of the wine list — this is a wine house as much as a restaurant, and your ability to talk about the list with genuine enthusiasm and accuracy is as important as your ability to run a section with precision.
Beyond service, you will support the Restaurant Manager in training junior team members and helping to establish the service culture from day one. Opening team positions carry real weight here — you will help define what this place feels like, not just execute it.
This is an evenings-led operation. The working day starts in the afternoon and finishes after service.
What We Are Looking For
You will have worked front-of-house in a quality dining environment — a rosette restaurant, a serious independent, or a hotel dining room where the standards were genuinely high. You will be warm, precise, and completely at ease in a room where guests have chosen to spend a serious amount of money on their evening.
Wine knowledge is not a prerequisite, but genuine curiosity about it absolutely is. You will be trained by people who know the list inside out, and we expect that training to take hold.
